Hi,

Website admin looking for branding, just purchased app for testing but having some problems with functions. I've uploaded custom icons for forums however they do not change when a forum is marked as "all read"

So I change two icons to forum-default-old.png and forum-default-new.png and only the new icon is displayed despite marking forums as read.

Can you confirm if this is a bug on phpBB3 please?

Is there any support for these problems?

This is a known issues in phpBB, and it is not trivial to fix, unfortunately, due to the way phpBB implements read markers.

I've tried fixing it before (for hours), gotten frustrated, and stopped. Multiple times. To the point where I don't feel like trying it again. :)

Hi,

I see this is a "Closed Bugs" topic, but I wanted to add that having just installed Forum Runner in the past few days on my private board and initially been VERY happy with it while testing it, I then discovered the same problem on my installation (phpBB 3.0.9) - on my iPhone, forums display the blue "unread posts" icon for ALL forums, even though I've tried marking all as read from within the app several times.

("Server-side topic marking" is enabled in Load Settings, btw.)

I can appreciate the past frustration you've experienced while trying to fix this problem, but if I'm going to recommend that my board's members invest £1.49 in an app that's unlikely ever to display the forum properly because the developer can't really be bothered any more to try to fix it - well, that's a BIG disappointment and not something I'm keen on doing!

A lot of people use phpBB3, and I see you've got a topic over at their support forum (http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=2092657) - is there no way you can liaise with them on this? Surely, it's worth a try, to keep your customers satisfied?

I write in hope that you'll see this not as criticism, but as encouragement to help us sort this out!

Thanks for your time.

Best Wishes for 2012!

Same sentiments here somersetbob. I have sponsorship for a branded iPhone and Android application and was deciding between Forum Runner and another similar app - the response from Rob made the decision easy and lack of response for other bug related question does not instill confidence

I understand development Rob, I'm also a developer but despite frustration, we should still make applications work - its what we are paid to do

This is where my forum and Forum Runner part company
