Hello, I've been using this app for my iPod Touch for about a month with no problems, but today something happened. Until today, I've only used it to look at one forum, which I'd put onto my forum runner home page as a "favorite" forum. Today, I tried to view a second forum, and suddenly the app stopped working.

Now, whenever I launch the app I get a blank screen, except in the upper right corner is a button that has a picture of a clockwise circular arrow, and also there's a blue title bar that says Forum Runner. If I click on the circular arrow, nothing at all happens. The only thing I can do is click on the ipod main button at the bottom that exits forum runner and brings up the ipod main menu. There's nothing else visible to click on. I can't see any names of any forums.

Is this a bug, or something I'm not doing right? I have to access this support forum through my desktop PC, since the app on the ipod is nonfunctional now.

Have you tried killing the app completely? (Double home click to bring up task bar, press & hold Forum Runner until it wiggles, then hit "Minus").

If that doesn't fix it, can you take a screenshot of what you are talking about?

You could also try deleting the app and reinstalling, but I'd rather have a screenshot of what you are talking about so I can maybe try to figure out what is going on.

No, I haven't tried killing the app... what does "double home click" mean? Is the home button the mechanical circular button at the bottom of the ipod? If I double click it, it does the same thing as a single-click would do...i.e., exits the app and goes back to the screen that shows all my apps. Reentering Forumrunner repeats the problem.

Also, what is the task bar? I'm not sure I've seen it, nor know how to show it. If I press Forum runner until it wiggles from the main menu, I see an "x", but no "minus". I assume the "x" would delete the app, which I've been afraid to do, for fear I'd have to buy it again.

Assuming you are running iOS 4.0 or higher, when you are on the home screen of the iPod, double click the mechanical home button at the bottom.

This will bring up a task bar of running apps on your phone. Press and hold Forum Runner (in the bottom row). A minus will show up. Hit the minus - this will kill the app off completely.

YOu can then re-launch the app. If the issue still persists, please take a screenshot of what you are talking about. You can take a screenshot by pressing "Home" and "Power" at the same time. IT will save a screenshot to your camera roll which you can then e-mail to me.

Worse comes to worse, you *CAN* delete the app completely and go download it again through The App Store. As long as you are signed in to the account that bought the app in the first place, you will just re-download it for free (this is the same for ALL apps in the app store. Once you buy it once you can download it as many times as you want for free).

Hmmm... According to Settings/General/About it says I have version 4.2.1 (8C148). This sounds like the I should be able to do the double-click from the home screen (which I assume is the screen that come up when I turn on the device, where I choose which app to launch). Yet double-clicking the home button does nothing.

I can take a screen snapshot, but to send it to you, I'll have to wait until I get home this evening, so that I can use my data synch cable to transfer the snapshot to a PC where I can put it onto this thread, or email to you. Alternatively, I suppose I could email it straight from the device, but I need wifi, which I don't think I'll have access to until this evening, so I guess this evening I'll send the screen snapshot.

Thanks for looking into this.

Okay, here's what ForumRunner looks like to me, everytime I launch it:

And as I said, that circular arrow does nothing when I click on it. I also wish I could figure out why the double-home-click doesn't work for me, but I guess that's outside the scope of this forum. (Not that it's ever worked... maybe it's not supposed to for my model.)

That is VERY weird. Its like your backing database got corrupted somehow. Even the Forum Browser/Push and Support are gone!

You will definitely need to delete the app and re-download it.

Sorry for the trouble, wish I knew how the database got corrupted!

Thank you; I've deleted and reinstalled, and it works nicely now. You're right, it didn't charge me, because it remembered I'd already paid. And now I see what the circular arrow is for. At first the tivo forum had no logo/icon, until I pushed the arrow (refresh) button, and then the logo showed up.
