My subscriptions are being marked as read even if I'm not reading them
vBulletin has a setting called "Thread Marking" which defines how the read times of threads are tracked.

If the forum uses Database Based Thread Marking, the thread read times are stored in the database on the forum so that you can go to any browser and your threads will always show up with the thread reading times correctly (eg: when you "Jump to first unread post". This is server intensive and many large forums do not have this set, they opt for the next choice which is Cookie based.

If the forum uses Cookie/Inactivity based thread marking, the thread read times are tracked in a session cookie, which has several side effects:

- If you read a thread on your PC browser, it will not show up as read in Forum Runner since the cookie is on your PC and not Forum Runner. The opposite is true: If you read a thread on Forum Runner, it will not show up as read on your PC.

- After a certain period of inactivity (that the forum configues), it marks ALL threads and forums as read. What this means is that if you go idle in Forum Runner with a bunch of unread subscribed threads, when you go back in, they will show up as read since the forum reports them as read.

- "Jump To First Unread Post" will not work as you expect, because after the session timeout (usually an hour), all threads are marked as read, so when you visit a thread after your session times out, your place in the thread is lost by the forum.

The definition of this from vBulletin Settings is as follows:

"Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies."

Forum Runner push notification and thread subscriptions work best with Database Based Thread Marking. If the forum you are on is using cookie/inactivity based, then things might act a little weird with threads you haven't read.

How do I get a forum to show up on my home page (favorites)?
You can add forums (and subforums) to your Home page by tapping the "Forum" menu, and tapping the upper right "Action" button and choosing "Add to Favorites".

If you only visit a specific subforum and want to Favorite that, just drill down to that subforum and choose "Add to Favorites".

Once you have a forum set asa favorite, it will show up on your main Forum Runner screen, and be polled for private messages and subscriptions.

If you have push notifications enabled, and the forum administrator has this feature enabled, you will receive push notifications from your favorite forums.

My notification count is wrong on my main iPhone screen
Since we have data coming in from many forums, we can only aggregate an approximate number of outstanding notifications sent to your device. This also can be affected by browsing via a non-Forum Runner client (like a web browser).

If you want to correct this, simply go to the Forum Runner home screen and press "refresh" in the upper right corner. Once it is done, your device will be in sync with your favorite forums.
